Troop 113's Spaghetti dinner another success

My dad has been involved with Boy Scout Troop 113 since my brother got into scouting. He has continued to work with the troop in Weirsdale, FL, and for the past 25 years has helped lead their big fund-raising effort of the year, the spaghetti dinner. They had another great year this year - here's what he sent out:
I just have to brag a little bit!!! On Sunday, February 3, 2008 we held our 25th Annual Spaghetti Dinner for Boy Scout Troop 113 in Weirsdale, Florida. This is the only fund raiser we do for our troop during the year. We request a $5.00 donation per ticket and in turn we serve Spaghetti, Spaghetti Sauce (made with the ultra secret Mary Holly recipe), salad, bread and dessert, coffee, tea, Lemonade. Take outs are available and make up about 1/3 of our dinners served!!
Anyway, I just have to tell someone that we SERVED 2,025 meals on Sunday. Yep, you didn"t misread that, it is 2,025. Then today (Monday), we served another 282 meals to a local Industrial Manufacturing Company (260 for their lunch time and 22 for their night crew). IT WAS A MOST SUCCESSFUL TWO DAY FUND RAISER!!!!! This company we served today only lets us do this because we get there with their meals at approximately 11:30 A.M. and we are gone by 12:00 a.m. No down time for his work force. Put the pencil to it - if their average pay is $10.00 per hour (and I suspect it is much more) and if we took up 1/2 hour of their work time that would equal $1,300.00. Pretty expensive down time!! We are in, deliver their meals and out the door before noon. We are the ONLY organization they participate in with this type of fund raiser because they have been "burned" in the past with organizations that couldn't "deliver" as promised!!!
The success of this thing has to be credited to the participation we get from our Troop parents (present troop members and past members), our Troop leaders (Scoutmaster, Assistant Scout Masters and Committee Members), the INDIVIDUAL SCOUTS, pre ticket sales and a reputation that we have built over the years!! I am especially proud of this years accomplishment because it is our 25th year for this fund raiser. We have so much community support it is just hard to describe! It just makes me proud to be privileged to lead this effort for the past 25 years!! ---- What's neat about the whole thing is they use my mom's special recipe and cook it in really large amounts to be able to serve that many people. I'm glad my parents are able to give to their community this way - way to go, Mom & Dad!
